Hearty Vegan Black Bean Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans
  • 3/4 cup quick oats
  • 1/3 cup crumbled whole wheat bread
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup red onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

Drain beans but don't rinse them. Add to a bowl and mash with a fork. Add the rest of the ingredients to a food processor and pulse a few times, until somewhat combined. Add ingredients to the bowl with beans and mix well. Form 6 patties.

Heat oil under medium heat, add a patty and cook for about 5 minutes. Flip and cook for another 5 minutes or until browned. Assemble burger with your favorite ingredients! I used a whole wheat bun, ketchup, vegan mayo from follow your heart, vegan tofu spread from toby's foods, vegan cheese from field roast and lettuce.
